A lot can happen, and has happened, in 20 years! Things in the world around us are constantly changing, challenging us to keep up, sometimes making our lives easier, and sometimes more difficult. With all of these changes, it’s good to have a God who never changes, and is always there to guide us. He always loves us, and always gives us what we need, including His unchanging Word, the standard we Christians live by. He calls us children, and welcomes us into His family, where we have the support of brothers and sisters who help and encourage us to remain steadfast and faithful to the Father while our lifestyles change with the times.

As I look back over my life, I am so thankful for the people in my life who have helped me along the way, encouraging me by the lives they live and the examples they set. People like my wife, my parents, school teachers, Bible teachers, and the list goes on. The ones who stand out to me the most are the ones who truly live in such a way that there’s no doubt where their hearts are, and that they truly belong to the Lord. When the term “servant” comes up, they immediately come to mind.

In my mind, Robin Weier is one of those people. I ahve been blessed to know the Weier family, Robin, his parents, and his brothers, since back in the mid-1970s. I first remember interacting with Robin when he was in the first Bible class I ever taught, the junior high class at Southwestern Church of Christ in Grove City. I remember being impressed with how well-behaved those Weier boys were and how their mom, Lois, made sure they were in Bible class. As time went on, I came to know the Weiers as some of the most dependable, hardest working people I’d ever met. When someone criticized Bob Weier for being too tough on his boys, I said, “the proof’s in the pudding.” There was not a better example of dependability or a better work ethic in anyone else’s children.

Over the years, Robin continues to grow in his service to our Lord as her served as a director for Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp and worked in the Young Life organization, where he became known throughout the Grove City community and beyond. He’s counseled teens through school, camp, and church involvement and was a youth minister for many years before coming here to Spring Road Church of Christ. When counselors were needed for the Columbine community, Robin was there. When groups were organized for Hurricane Katrina relief work in New Orleans, he went. Most recently, when there was a need to help the flood victims in West Virginia, Robin was involved. I could go on recording times when Robin ministered to the needs of people, but there’s not enough space here to do it, and there’s much more than what I know about, I’m sure. I think you get the picture.

Robin is a servant, and as good an example as any I’ve seen. When someone is in need or hurting, you don’t hear him say, “Let me know if there’s anything I can do.” He just shows up and helps, and prays and encourages. To say we’ve been blessed to have Robin on our staff at Spring Road is a major understatement, but I just can’t find the words to do it justice. Robin, on behalf of the elders and staff here at Spring Road Church of Christ, thank you for 20 years of service to our church family. Thank you for your example. Thank you for being such a hard-working co-worker. Thank you for being a friend.
