What Are You Leading People to Expect From Jesus?

I was away from home with my husband and children, celebrating Christmas with extended family. Before the big family gathering on Christmas Eve, we attended a area wide church service. The focus of the service was on the ways Jesus’s birth had disrupted the lives of specific biblical people, Mary and Joseph among them. One […]

Jesus: The Serpent in the Wilderness

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up. John 3:14 The Serpent in the Wilderness was a sign of the people’s sin. It was a brass sculpture of a snake that was placed on a pole so all could see. Israel rebelled by […]

Restored and Ever Restoring

The original dream of the Restoration Movement was to bring unity to Christians by restoring to the church certain practices and commitments it had lost. The Marriage Covenant

God established marriage as a covenant, not a contract (Malachi 2:14; Proverbs 2:16-17). It is important to understand the difference between these two. A contract is based on limited liability. […]

Understanding Your Law

“Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your Commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back […]

Christmas Scriptures

The Angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby […]

Give Thanks to God

The Thanksgiving Holiday is an appropriate reminder of the importance of giving thanks. Giving thanks is more important than we realize. Jesus stressed the importance of giving thanks in Luke 17 when he healed ten lepers of their disease and only one returned to thank him. Jesus said, “Was no one found to return and […]

Remembering Our Faith

I heard of a lady who had been golfing for only about a month when her father-in-law invited her to go golfing with him. After teeing off on #5, her father-in-law was intent on finding the ball he had sliced into the rough. Meanwhile this lady, concentrating only on her shot, was unaware of his position. Her […]
