February 2016, over my spring break, I will spend a week in Mexico on a medical mission trip with the International Service Learning team. We will stay in the northern part of Mexico, where there is high unemployment rate and man people who have been unsuccessful at crossing the border. I went on a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic last year. The trip was life changing and not only helped me further my nursing knowledge, but gave me a different perspective on life and allowed me to help people who really needed medical care. Since my major is Nursing and minor is Spanish, these trips have encompassed all parts of my schooling. Hearing their sincere appreciation is something I would never trade and gives me chills. I expect my trip to Mexico to be just as life changing as my last trip and am so excited to use my talents to help those who need it most.
